Free Cooking Technique Classes With Williams-Sonoma for June & July 2010

Williams-Sonoma Store Events, Technique ClassesEach month, Williams-Sonoma stores offer instruction in basic cooking techniques and specific cook’s tools. Guests are able to watch demonstrations, ask questions and taste samples. They have two classes on each of the designated dates, at 11 am and 2 pm. Classes are complimentary but require pre-registration in advance by telephone to 778-330-2581 for each classes date. We hear the classes are very popular so be sure to book early. See the schedule of upcoming classes shown in the Read More or below. In Vancouver Williams-Sonoma is located on South Granville at 2903 Granville Street.

Technique Class Schedule for June & July 2010

June 6 – Steak
What could be better on Father’s day then serving a deliciously juicy, perfectly cooked steak? This class will uncover the mystery behind cooking steak. Understand the terms grass‐fed, dry-aged, and marbled and learn how to best utilize some of the most popular cuts and how to prepare classic dishes with some tasty accompaniments.

June 13 – Stick, Skewers & Satays!
Serve meats, vegetables and fruits on a stick and people begin to have fun! Learn how to make kebabs and skewers at home for friends and family and discover the principals behind combining meats and vegetables on skewers. Learn how to cook your kebabs perfectly and discover recipes from around the world!

June 27 – Fresh to Frozen, Summer Desserts
There is no better way to enjoy summer’s bounty of fruits than using them to create delicious frozen desserts to be enjoyed with friends and family. From ice cream to gelato and frozen yogurt, the healthy alternative, learn how to make these frozen treats with ease. Then we’ll rediscover our childhood favourite – popsicles!

July 11 – Farm to Table
Bring the essence of the Farmer’s Market into your kitchen with bright colors and flavours. Join our class as we cook with the freshest farm‐picked vegetables and fruits. Learn new ways to enjoy the King and Queen of summer produce, corn and tomatoes. Beautiful in contrasting colors with many different varieties – we will explore both new and classic preparations of these favourites as well as high-summer herbs such as basil, lemongrass, oregano and dill.

July 18 – Summer Sauces
Jazz up your favourite grilled meat, grilled vegetables or even a scoop of ice cream with some delicious summer sauces. When temperatures rise, learn how to make flavourful summer sauces that require fresh ingredients and just a little bit of prep work. From chutneys and salsas to cool yogurt and dessert sauces, this is a great way to add flavour and color to your summer plates.

July 25 – Saving Summer
Not ready to take on canning? Learn some easy methods to capture and save summer’s bounty. From quick tomato sauce, to easy pickled vegetables and delicious jam made with ripe fruits of the season, we’ll share some basic ways to save the fresh flavours of the summer.
